Looking for something special.....

Grilled Pizza

Grilling is not just for hamburgers & chicken. Grilling pizzas if easy and fun and a great way to get people involved with cooking. Top your pizza anyway you wish. I have suggested some toppings.....but be creative!

For the crust:

1 pound fresh pizza dough (you can get this at the grocery store or your local pizzeria)

For the toppings:

Mozzarella Cheese
Ricotta Cheese
Bacon
Pepperoni
Pineapple
Sauteed Onions
Green & Red Peppers
Mushrooms
Grilled Vegetables
Sliced Prosciutto
Roasted Garlic
Fresh Basil
Marinara Sauce

For the Prep:

Cornmeal
Olive Oil

If you've chilled the dough, take it out of the refrigerator approximately 30 minutes ahead to let it come to room temperature. Roll 5-6 balls and stretch each into rough 8-inch circle and place them all on baking sheets sprinkled with cornmeal. (You will be able to fit 2 pizzas on each 18 by 13-inch baking sheet.)

Light your grill.

Once the grill is hot place the pizzas directly onto the grill and cook on 1 side for 1 minute. Turn the pizzas over and brush with olive oil or garlic oil. Make sure that your grill it not too hot.

Pile on your toppings
. Drizzle each pizza with 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Turn the grill down to medium heat; put the lid on your grill and cook for 5 minutes more, until the crust is crisp and the toppings are cooked.
